Student Life

Library and Photography Studio
The L Makeup Institute houses a professionally-lit photography studio and equipment on its premises available for photographing student work. Photos are available during a student’s attendance and may be downloaded or copied for promotional and personal use — this is a fantastic way to showcase your developing talents and to turn your education into a viable profession by starting out with your portfolio.

The L Makeup Institute provides all students and graduates with access to a comprehensive library and resource center consisting of textbooks, periodicals, and movies related to the field of makeup artistry. Students are encouraged to use the library to enhance their classroom learning of makeup artistry and special makeup effects. The library is open during school hours from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm Monday through Friday, and materials can be checked out for one-week periods.

In addition to physical resources, the library is also equipped with computer workstations with internet access, as well as printing and copying. Each workstation has the Microsoft Office Suite and shared storage drives, thereby allowing timely and convenient access to student photos and the ability to reproduce images or source materials and inspiration for classroom assignments.

Career Services & Job Placement

Our support services encourage personal responsibility and healthy decision-making that contribute to life-long learning. The Student Services Department is always available to assist students and graduates with questions about housing, transportation, child care, financial assistance, academics, career advisement, and other concerns. Students may contact Student Services by phone at: 702-685-9298, or may stop by the Administrative Office.

L Makeup Institute does not make any guarantee of employment or salary. However, students and graduates in good standing have access to ongoing career advice and networking opportunities, as well as continuous career placement assistance. Additionally, our curriculum places a great deal of emphasis on how to obtain and retain employment after graduation including providing job resources and websites where graduates can receive notifications of job postings. We invite employers as guest speakers and include employers as part of our Professional Advisory Committee to solicit input regarding relevant graduate employability skills. Students also receive training in professionalism and job search skills including the importance of social media and setup, how to write a resume, how to complete an employment application and prepare for an effective interview or audition. Upon completion, the L Makeup Institute notifies employers of graduating classes and graduates are added to a job group email distribution list and Job Board where paid job and non-paid or test opportunities are regularly communicated. In many cases the L Makeup Institute gets specific requests from employers for our graduates. In addition, students and graduates are also able to participate, when available, in experiential learning opportunities. These are great environments to gain experience while building portfolios and resumes. Everyone at the L Makeup Institute is proud of our student’s graduation and career success. These graduation and placement rates are available through your admissions advisor.
